Surrounded by the Alps and the Jura Mountains, the Bern Switzerland Temple is located in a city called Zollikofen, which is north of Bern. The temple is unique because it was the first temple built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints outside of North America and Hawaii. Church members from several countries in Europe, including France, Albania, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Israel (for expatriates), attend the temple to worship God and experience peace.
The edifice spans 39,063 square feet and sits on a seven-acre site. While temple patrons are Church members who abide by certain gospel standards, the public is welcome at the visitors’ center, which is close to the temple. They can also enjoy the beautiful temple as they walk around the grounds.
