Standing on the northwestern edge of Medford, Oregon, beside gentle hills and fertile farmland, the Medford Oregon Temple is the 79th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The second temple to be built in the state, it serves congregations from southern Oregon and northern California.
At 10,700 square feet, the Medford Oregon Temple includes instruction rooms; sealing rooms, or rooms where marriages are performed; a celestial room, which is symbolic of God’s presence; and a baptistry. Its design matches dozens of smaller temples constructed in the late 1990s and early 2000s as part of the Church’s effort to bring temples closer to more Church members. As a result, patrons could attend worship services more easily in their areas.
