Nestled along the EastLink highway stands the Melbourne Australia Temple, its gold-leafed angel Moroni statue rising above the busy road and neighborhoods that surround the area. Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are considered sacred houses of God by members of the Church. Members come to temples to grow closer to the Lord and to their families as they make special promises and feel the peace of the house of worship.
Within the temple are special rooms. The celestial room is a beautiful, peaceful area that represents heaven. Sealing rooms are used to perform marriages, and instruction rooms help members learn more about God’s plan of happiness. A beautiful baptistry is also included in temples, with a font resting on the backs of 12 large oxen.
