The Preston England Temple, located in Chorley, Lancashire, England, is the second temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Great Britain. It welcomes Church members from the British Isles — including northern Wales and England, Ireland and Scotland.
Olympia white granite bricks from Sardinia cover the exterior of the 65,000-square-foot edifice. The temple’s majestic spire climbs 155 feet into the sky, capped with a four-foot-tall statue of the angel Moroni. Large windows surround the base of the spire, which rises from the front of the temple rather than the center. Inside the temple are a baptistry; instruction rooms; a celestial room, which represents heaven on earth; and sealing rooms, where marriages are performed. In these rooms, patrons commit to live Christlike lives so they can obtain eternal life with God. The 15-acre temple site also includes a stake center, a missionary training center, and a place for temple patrons and staff to stay.Finished/Dedicated: 2
