Standing resplendent against the metropolitan skyscrapers of northern Brazil’s largest city, the Recife Brazil Temple can be seen by many driving along the adjacent highway. To many of those drivers and passengers, and to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in Recife, the temple is a beam of hope and a reminder of God’s presence in Brazil.
Etched into the temple’s Asa Branca granite exterior, imported from the Brazilian state of Ceara, are the words “Santidade ao Senhor — a Casa do Senhor,” or “Holiness to the Lord — the House of the Lord.”
