A beacon of faith rising above the Caribbean Sea, the Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Temple is the 99th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first temple in the Caribbean. Located on a hill with impressive views of the ocean below, this temple serves Church members from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Puerto Rico and small nearby islands. The Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Temple is situated next to the National Music Conservatory on 6.42 acres of manicured grounds not far from the heart of Santo Domingo. The magnificent edifice is constructed of white granite and has a contemporary single-spire design. The interior of the 67,000-square-foot temple is adorned with elaborate chandeliers, exquisite stonework and tile flooring that resembles the floors of many Latin American homes. The temple contains a baptistry; instruction rooms; sealing rooms, where marriages are performed; and a celestial room, which represents eternal life with God.
