Nestled in a lush eastern Washington valley, the Spokane Washington Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stands out among the farmhouses, fields and pine trees surrounding it. The beautiful granite building, constructed in a contemporary single-spire design, serves Church members in eastern Washington and parts of northern Idaho and western Montana.
Members of the Church attend the temple to worship God and experience the peace that pervades this holy place. Within the temple are instruction rooms, where Church members learn about Jesus Christ; a baptistry; and a celestial room, the most beautiful room of any temple, which represents eternal life with God. Latter-day Saints also attend the temple to be married, a sacred event that unites a man and a woman for this life and for eternity. On the exterior are words that make clear that the temple is God’s holy house: “Holiness to the Lord. The House of the Lord.”
