A new temple will soon rise from the desert floor in Tucson, Arizona. When it does, it will be the sixth temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the state. Arizona’s other five temples are in Mesa, Snowflake, Gila Valley, Phoenix and Gilbert.
For Latter-day Saints living in the southern region of Arizona, attending temple services presently requires planning and significant travel, which they gladly do for the opportunity to worship in the temple since this worship is an important part of their faith. Temple services are different than worship services offered in regular meetinghouses on Sundays. While the public is welcome to attend Sabbath services in Mormon churches, temple services are available only to Latter-day Saints who have prepared themselves to make important promises to God. Temple services also help Latter-day Saints live with greater perspective and peace.
