Bringing spiritual blessings to a land of ancient Mayan ruins, the Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple stands in the capital city of Chiapas, Mexico’s southernmost state. It is the 75th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the sixth temple to be built in Mexico. Beautifully situated on a hillside overlooking the city, this temple serves Church members throughout Chiapas. With a gleaming exterior of Mexican white marble, the Tuxtla Gutiérrez Mexico Temple rests majestically on 1.77 acres of manicured grounds. With a relatively small floor plan of 10,700 square feet, its design is similar to those of other Mormon temples constructed in the late 1990s and early 2000s as part of a campaign to bring temple blessings closer to more Church members. The temple contains a baptistry; instruction rooms; sealing rooms, where marriages are solemnized for time and all eternity; and a celestial room, which represents eternal life with God.
